Olympiaki Akti has translated into English as Olympic Beach, also known and with its initial name Katerinoskala which means "Katerini's staircase".
Until the year 1986 it was called Parathalassia Katerini or Katerinoskala, while later renamed to Olympiaki Akti or Olympic Beach. The name refers to a seaside village close to a city, has a compound name featuring the city name Katerini and the word Skala (staircase) which together form one name 'Katerinoskala'.
Did you know that Olympic Beach was founded in year 1964 and was inhabited for the first time in year 1980 with 27 permanent residents? In year 2021 there were around 320 permanent residents.
